Meet Taz, and welcome to the story of his retirement from active duty to civilian life as a service dog. His hashtag is #tazoteausmc and he’s just met his new humans.
Today we picked up USMC K-9 Tazo Tea (retired) (yesterday) at PBI. His handler will be coming back to the US and will pick him up in a few weeks, but Taz was injured in the line of duty and needed to be stateside sooner. I offered to dogsit (for cash, of course, as well as patriotic duty because I’m not in any position to feed a small horse).
Obviously, the child is terribly upset. Ned thinks I got him a dog for Valentine’s Day and is thrilled that I finally got him something fun. Cheeto is looking for something upon which to revenge pee. I’m trying to size up a dog who weighs as much as I do, understands commands in 5 languages, can respond if you spell commands and knows 57 hand signals, and is probably smarter than most of the people I know.
