I’m so tired of doctors. So. Fucking. Tired. There they are bragging about their educations and fancy degrees and fellowships and awards and year of “careers in the field” aka “experience,” and have they cured me? Nope. Have they cured the spawn? Nope. Still with the thyroid. Still with the Ehlers-Danlos. Still with the migraines. They go off and make their speeches at their conferences and say they’re doing the research and all of the things. But I’m still not better, and he’s still not better. And I am, literally and figuratively, sick of it. I’m really angry. What am I paying them to do if not their damned jobs? Do any of them even work a 5 days week? And they are not doing their jobs because we are still sick. The whole freaking healthcare system is broken. It costs too much, takes too long, they’ve got these huge staffs of nurses and PAs and assistants and all, and in the end, we all end up dead one way or another anyway. The only question is when and how. It’s always just “try this” and “maybe that”, and I’m supposed to keep doing this same shit over and over again and trusting them, like they’ve ever done anything to earn my trust. They’re all in it together. I feel like all they do is lie. Over and over with the lies. Forever now. I’ve tried different ones, and I’ve tried different hospitals. They’re all the same, though. Nothing ever changes.
From now on, I’m going to my mechanic, Duke, for our medical care. He’s been running a successful garage up there in Norristown for like 40 years. And cars are pretty much just like bodies, so he’s got the experience. I know, I know. I won’t have my medications, and probably, I won’t feel so good at first. And Daniel won’t have his therapies or meds, and the casts may not be so spectacular when something breaks. But Butch can FIX things. He fixes things every day, and he has for years. He doesn’t just talk about it or do research or read about it and then tell me to come back and give him more of my money. He gets results. He doesn’t have any ties to Big Pharma or the Healthcare Industry, and that’s a good thing because he tells it like it is. Plain talk that I can understand with no big Latin words to decode. My doctors won’t know what hits them when he starts calling them. I know he can be abrasive, and yeah, he overcharges women for services, but that’s not a real crime, and all mechanics do it. He went to jail when he was younger for dealing drugs, but he learned a trade in there and he’s made something of himself. His sons both work for him, and once, when the check engine light in my car was acting up, the older one drove it around the block for an hour just so it would pass inspection. He knows his way around the antiquated system we have to use. He knows how to shake things up. That’s what I’m talking about. Someone needs to burn it all down so we can start over. Duke’s not just hanging out with his buddies on the golf course and working part-time and not helping people. He cares about his community and customers deep down. You can tell. He can really make a difference in our lives. I’m sure of it.
He’s going to make our health great again. I’m with him.
Oh, and I made that decision for all of you, too, whether or not it makes sense to you. You’re welcome.
Now, go watch *blackish “Lemons”, or do it as soon as you can, because we have work to do.
